Angel and Book colour

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Original sketch done by Disney character designer, Chris Sanders. He kindly sent me a note giving me the go ahead to colour this particular sketch of his. The original sketch can be found here: http://alohalilo.deviantart.com/art/Angel-and-Book-108262011

All the colour was done by moi, something a little bit different :)

Illustration Friday - 'Wrapping'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This ice dragon is all wrapped up for the harsh winter. :)

(...Very strange drawing and colouring this when it's the middle of the summer and so hot!)

Sketched in pencil and coloured in PS, done in about 4 hours over 2 days.

Illustration Friday - 'Idle'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Here is my illustration for IF's theme this week 'Idle'. This is the first picture that came to my head and after thinking of a lot of other stuff it's this I came back to. When I first heard the theme I thought 'Idol' and got quite excited, having visions of big gold statues and when I saw it was the other spelling the thought of pleading ignorance crossed my mind but then I realised that's not the spirit and I shouldn't shy away from the set theme!

This has taken the longest of any of the illustrations on my blog, if you liked this don't forget to check out the rest ;) And I have aTwitter where I will posting links to new stuff first!

One last thing, I finally have some free time for freelance and private commisions so drop me an email if you or anyone you know is interested! Lozzie'at'gmail.com :)

And now the curiosity begins about next weeks theme!

Illustration Friday - 'Hollow'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Sometimes even Pandas wonder 'Why is bamboo hollow?'

This week's Illustration Friday topic was so hard! I immediately thought of a tree hollow and wanted to draw an owl in a dark forest. However after looking through the link viewer I saw so many variations of this and I wanted to do something a tad more original. Suddenly the idea of bamboo came to me and I went with it!

Also a big thank you for all the lovely comments on my first illustration from last week, it's nice to have such positive and like minded people being so encouraging :)

Time taken - 2 hours approx.
Sketched in pencil and coloured in Photoshop

Hit Speed Paint - 'Secret'

Topic suggested by Ash.
Time limit - 1 hour.
Medium - Pencil sketch

I would like to spend some time developing this at some point.

CGTalk Daily Sketch - 1854

Subject - The Jetpack
Time limit - 55 minutes

I spent just over an hour, didn't have time for any kind of background. It was more about the character design than the composition.

CGtalk 1850 - The Red Knight

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Pretty literal, time limit of 55 minutes which I used every second off!

Illustration Friday - 'Shaky'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Here's my first go at IF's theme. A tough one this week.

The brief story behind it is a clown gets promoted to the tightrope but is finding keeping his balance harder than he first thought. This is intended to be a snap shot of him practising (this is way he's outside) and trying not to be so shaky when it comes to heights.

Total time approx: 4 hours, from scratch in photoshop.
